The Learning Disabilities Association of America began in March of 1963 when parents of children with learning disabilities gathered in Chicago for a national conference. These groups of parents organized into a national organization which was incorporated in 1964 as the Association for Children with Learning Disabilities (ACLD). From there, the organization has grown into the Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDA). Today, LDA is the largest non-profit volunteer organization advocating for individuals with learning disabilities.
LDA of MO, through its affiliation with LDA of America, works continuously to provide services to individuals with learning disabilities, their parents and the professionals who serve them.
