2009 MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

I.  Purpose
 

- To aid students in Missouri with learning disabilities in their endeavors to pursue higher education
- To stimulate their motivation toward academic achievements
- To open up the possibilities of continued educational achievements
- To illustrate that there are no limits to what they can work for

II.  Eligibility
 

- Any Missouri graduating student with learning disabilities who can meet college entrance requirements

III.  Selection Criteria
 

- The student's strengths
- The nature of the learning disability
- The student's non-academic activities and interests
- A measure of the student's motivation
- The student's class rank, cumulative grade point average, and SAT or ACT scores (these will be considered as only one of many indicators of the applicant's potential for success in college)
- LDA of Missouri members' families will be given preference in case of a tie
- Financial need will be considered in case of a tie

IV.  Scholarship Amount

- $500.  If finances permit, more than one scholarship and/or a higher amount may be granted.

V.  Directions

2. Objective Criteria Page 1 cmpleted by student, in full
Objective Criteria Page 2 completed by student, in full
3. One-Page Cover Letter by a counselor, teacher, or administrator explaining why the student should be awarded this scholarship and addressing the student's potential for completing a post-secondary program
4. Recent wallet-size photo suitable for reproducing (photo will not be returned)
5. Copy of first page of current or most recent IEP
6. Copy of high school transcript
INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED
