DIANE CHRISTODOULOU MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
I.  Purpose
 

- To aid students in Missouri with learning disabilities in their endeavors to pursue higher education.
- To stimulate their motivation toward academic achievements.
- To open up the possibilities of continued educational achievements.
- To illustrate that there are no limits to what they can work for.

 

II.  Eligibility
 

- Any Missouri graduating student with learning disabilities who can meet college entrance requirements.

 

III.  Application Procedures
  - Application forms may be obtained by contacting LDA of MO.  Click here to obtain a printable scholarship form.
- Responses to the questions on the application form may be answered in any manner: typed, handwritten, taped, etc.
- Applications must be accompanied by the following:
       1.  A copy of the front page of the applicant's current or most recent IEP.
     2.  A one-page cover letter from a teacher, counselor, or administrator answering the question,
          "Why do you think this student should be awarded this scholarship?"
     3.  A statement from teacher, counselor or administrator regarding student's potential for completion of a
          post-secondary program.          
     4.  A high school transcript.
     5.  A picture suitable for reproduction.        

 

IV.  Criteria for Selection

- The nature of the student's learning disability and strengths.
- The student's non-academic activities and interest.
- The student's motivation in high school.
- The student's class rank, cumulative grade point average, and/or ACT or SAT score as one possible indicator of
     the applicant's potential for success in college.                   
- The student's legitimacy of a post-secondary educational plan.
- The student's references, essay and financial needs.
- In case of a tie, LDA of Missouri members' families will be given preference.

 

  V.  Amount of Scholarship
  - $400.  If finances permit, more than one scholarship may be granted.
